 3 MORE PAGES OF ACCUSING THE MODERN WESTERN AUDIENCE OF ORIENTALISTIC SENTIMENTS AND THEN

wondering what it would be like if my dad actually gets the job in Nigeria.

I guess it's not Lubbock.

Goodness.

No, I suppose it wouldn't be, no.

What Orientalistic sentiments are those? For what class is this?

I am more curious, though: what job is this that your father might get?

@Earl -

Oh "orientalistic sentiments" is actually nothing like what i was accusing anyone of, but i liked the rhythm of the phrase, so, i guess i lied. The paper for Third World Literature was hastily churned out and probably largely crap, in which i said "unusual stories employ unusual devices such as magic."

My dad applies for jobs constantly, having gotten completely tired of lubbock, but he is too old and experienced for the kinds of salaries people would prefer to pay. This is the first time the job in question has been out of the country, though, so it's a little of a jolt. It is an international agricultural research station similar to the one he worked at in the Philippines ten years ago.
